Hi there, my name is Jennifer Russell, and I am a program assistant and advisor for CRCD’s Child Development and Family Studies BA Program, and I also do adjunct teaching for distance Early Childhood. I have been employed with UAF since August 2010, and thoroughly enjoy working at UAF.

I have lived in Fairbanks, Alaska for about 27 years now and I call this place home. I can only see myself living here or on Maui. My dream would be to live in AK from April-Jan 1, and then Jan-Mar 30 in Maui. I guess we all can dream of retirement right? LOL

I am married to my husband Jim for almost 8 years now, and we have no children except for our fur baby Winslow. He is an 11 year old Papillion, he brings so much laughter and joy to our house, we can’t imagine what life will be when our time is up. Hopefully that’s not for many years!

Some of what I do: Other than working, I am an NSO (Non Skating Official), for the Fairbanks Roller Girls, and I have been with the league for almost 4 years now. I guess you can say I am one of the “originals”. The league is still young in Fairbanks, but gets more and more interest as time goes on. I love being a volunteer for non-profits because I know my time and energy is appreciated and put to good use. Being with this league makes me feel very lucky, they raise money for all kinds of non-profits around Fairbanks and always giving time to help any way they can. I also volunteer asĀ  a Board member for Enep’ut Children’s Center with is another non-profit. Enep’ut has really opened my eyes to Early Childhood in new ways than what I was exposed to when I was a student getting a degree. I get to see all the “behind the scenes” stuff that early childhood programs deal with. They have humbled me. I really love being apart of this group because I know that the small things that I do are having an effect on so many others lives. I think that is why I love being in the Early Childhood field, I get the honor of indirectly having a good effect on many peoples future.

I could go on with much more, but I know it’s just an intro so I’ll share more later.

My fur baby ready to go outside at -40
